An unexpected bonus event for some has arrived for people attending the District 9550 conference. The Whitsunday Airport, just 8 minutes drive from the conference venue will be hosting an air show to celebrate their 50 anniversary.
While we expect that most delegates will elect for the great Sunday morning session, including a talk by keynote speaker Li Cunxin and others, we know that some of our attendees will opt for the airshow which is from 10am till 1pm Sunday. The airshow program includes displays and a showcase from the RAAF Roulettes, MaxxG Aerobatics with incredible aerobatic displays in Pitts Specials and his Grumman Avenger, CHC helicopters showing us their skills in rescue missions, formation skydiving and a tandem routine from Skydive Airlie Beach.
The Whitsunday Airport is also the base for Seaplane and helicopter tours to the reef and islands. It is also the site of the WAVE, the innovative Home and Hangar estate that is taking shape around the airport.
